Twelve years ago, I took a detour from my singer/songwriter career and followed an avid interest in alternative medicine to the formal study of therapeutic massage.  I obtained my license, set up shop, and built a practice where the use of soothing botanicals and essential oils became an important adjunct to hands-on therapy.  In my experience, they clearly enhanced my clients' well-being and overall treatment results.

The profound beauty of essential oils was a siren call for me.  Enchanted by their fragrances and intrigued by their vast clinical applications, I delved more deeply into the study and practice of aromatherapy and began to create complex essential oil blends.

My love affair with botanicals was now in full bloom.  Inspired by a continuing desire to facilitate wellness, a passion for quality, and a commitment to sustainable, chemical-free ingredients, I decided to produce 100% natural and organic bodycare products using my favorite personal aromatherapy blends.  And Sage Canyon Botanicals was born.

Looking back, I recall certain signs from my journey to Sage Canyon^®:  The thrill of discovering that composing essential oil blends is a lot like writing music.  Joy at finding an exciting new channel for creative expression. The realization that sometimes, though the road is unfamiliar, a detour can actually be a better way to take you where you want to go.

And I'm reminded:  to be grateful for the blessings in my life; to seek inspiration wherever I go; and to try to do some good along the way.

OUR STANDARDS

Artisanal Values:  At Sage Canyon^® we're painstaking about craftsmanship and obsess about quality.  Our products are handmade in small batches to guarantee purity and freshness.  To ensure the integrity of our products, we make them in our own facility and never farm them out to private label manufacturers.

Self-Preservation:  It's a good thing.  Sage Canyon^® products are naturally preserved by their own ingredients.  Our anhydrous formulas don't mix oil and water, thereby eliminating the need for noxious chemical additives.  Our light-resistant packaging contributes to ingredient stability and is recyclable.

Sourcing:  Honesty is the best policy.  We promised you we would never "greenwash" our products.  So we're not going to tell you that every single one of our raw ingredients is certified organic (though we are going to suggest that anyone who does tell you that is being less than 100% honest!).  The bottom line is, our products are 100% all-natural and organic.  This means we use only natural sustainable ingredients, and we source as many of those ingredients as possible from organic growers.  The remaining ingredients are either wildcrafted (grown and harvested in the wild), or select ingredients from traditional farms.  Depending on the product, organic contents range between 50% and 80%.  Our products are 100% vegan except for Body Butter and Natural 10, which contain sustainably harvested beeswax.

Sagely, We're Green:  Sage Canyon's^® commitment to sustainability and a healthier planet is rock-solid.  Our products contain only 100% renewable ingredients sourced from ethical growers.  Our product containers are recyclable and, to further reduce waste, we use no secondary packaging.  We practice green methods in the workplace and strive to continually lessen our carbon footprint.

Shelf-Life:  Our products are best used within the following time periods after container opening:  Aromatic Spray, Essential Rosewater Toner, Natural 10, Full Circle Soap:  2 years; Mineral Bath Soak, Body Butter:  1 year; Bath & Body Oil, Sea Salt and Sugar Scrubs:  9 to 12 months.  Shelf-life estimates assume proper usage and storage.  Keep containers tightly closed and store out of direct sunlight in a dry place at room temperature (between 59° - 86° F); no refrigeration necessary.  Keep water out of oil-containing products.

Natural Variance:  Because Sage Canyon^® products are handmade from unprocessed botanical and mineral ingredients, slight variations in appearance may occur.  These benign variations reflect normal harvest fluctuations and the natural range of essential oil colors, and symbolize the authenticity of our products.
